I'm Vanya Panamska, a Hormone Yoga Therapy Certified Teacher

At the peak of my corporate career, I looked perfect on paper: successful executive, loving mother, dedicated wife.

But a breast cancer diagnosis at 35 showed me how disconnected I had become from my body and myself. Like many women, I was running on empty while trying to do it all. Through healing, I found my way back through Hormone Yoga Therapy (HYT) and Iyengar Yoga.

Today, as a certified teacher in multiple practices, I bring together Eastern wisdom and modern well-being approaches to support women during life's transitions.

I invite you to navigate my timeline or read my full journey.

My Timeline So Far

Navigate the key moments that shaped my path from early caregiver, corporate leadership, health wake-up call, to supporting women through my teaching.

1979
Born into Balance

My parents gifted me with two ways of seeing the world - my father, strict and disciplined as he taught future pilots, and my mother, sharing her emotional world openly with me. Living between these energies taught me early on about finding harmony between the head and heart.

1980s
Learning to Care

I still remember feeling such a natural pull to take care of my little brother, five years younger than me. It wasn’t something anyone asked me to do - it just felt right. Looking back, I was learning to be a caregiver before I even understood what that meant, though this nurturing side would soon be overshadowed by expectations of excellence.

1990s
Finding My Freedom

Movement saved me during these years. Whether it was gymnastics, running, or skiing with my father pushing me to my limits, sports became my escape. During this time, I met someone who would plant an important seed - one of my parents’ friends who practiced yoga. His calm presence and our conversations stayed with me, though I wouldn’t understand their significance until much later.

1998-2002
Academic Foundations

At the University of World and National Economics in Sofia, I pursued my Bachelor’s in Accounting and Financial Control, Master’s in Finance while also studying at the Germanicum-Institute. This combination of studies would later help me bridge the worlds of corporate structure and human understanding.

2000-2003
First Steps into Business

I began my professional journey at Stambouli Bulgaria Ltd, starting in payroll but quickly discovering my natural ability to work with people. Looking back, I can see how each role was preparing me for my future path.

2003-2007
Growing Through Leadership

While completing my Master’s in Human Resource Management, I grew from a Controlling Professional to HR Manager at Henkel Bulgaria. Each step taught me more about standing up, supporting others while maintaining structure and efficiency.

2009-2013
Recognition and Achievement

Being named HR Manager of the Year and receiving multiple President’s Awards felt like validation, but something deeper was stirring. These years taught me about the delicate balance between professional success and personal fulfillment.

2014
The Wake-Up Call

At 34, while serving as HR Director at Devin JSC, I received my breast cancer diagnosis. This led me through surgery, chemotherapy, and into medical-induced menopause - a profound turning point. It wasn’t just a diagnosis - it was a message. I remember asking my doctor, “Why did this happen? I love life so much.” His answer changed everything: “This is what you want.” Those words forced me to look at how I’d been living and what needed to change.

2015-2016
Finding My True Path

Discovering Hormonal Yoga Therapy during my recovery opened a door I didn’t know existed. When my cycle returned after just two weeks of practice, I knew I had found something powerful. I began studying with Dinah Rodriguez herself, understanding that this was more than just healing - it was my calling.

2017
Becoming a Certified Teacher

Receiving my certification in Hormonal Yoga Therapy from Dinah marked the beginning of a new chapter. This wasn’t just about having a certificate - it was about being entrusted with ancient wisdom that could help other women find their way back to balance.

2018
First Steps into Teaching

Hosting my first workshop in Vienna felt like coming home. Each session that followed in Bulgaria showed me that this was the path I was meant to walk. The women’s responses confirmed what my heart already knew.

2018A
Transformative Journey to Pune

That same year, I took my first trip to the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India, for a 40-day intensive study. Immersing myself in this transformative environment, I deepened my understanding of therapeutic yoga, assisting in therapy classes and learning directly from teachers who carried forward the Iyengar legacy. This experience enriched my practice and ignited a passion for blending tradition with healing.

2019
Deepening My Practice

Even as I took on the role of HR Director at LUKOIL Bulgaria, I completed my Iyengar Yoga Certification. This period showed me that I could bridge both worlds - corporate leadership and holistic healing.

2019
Leading with Heart

Walking into those male-dominated boardrooms as one of the only women, I had a choice - conform to traditional leadership or stay true to who I'd become. I chose to lead with both softness and strength, guiding a team of thousands while staying true to my feminine wisdom.

2020
Student of Life

Continuing my studies at the Iyengar Yoga Institute in Pune, I dedicate at least one month each year to deepening my knowledge and assisting in therapeutic classes.

2021
Journey of Self-discovery

One year later I completed Teacher Training in the transformative “Awareness Intensive: Who Am I” program and received my teacher’s approval to guide others on this profound journey of self-discovery.

2022
Following My Intuition

Moving to Poland with my family was a leap of faith. When faced with a misdiagnosed lung cancer that turned out to be tuberculosis, I once again trusted my body's wisdom and sought holistic healing approaches.

2023
Sharing Open Through Editing

In April 2023, I had the profound privilege of serving as the official editor of the Bulgarian edition of Hormonal Yoga Therapy for Women by Dinah Rodrigues, published by LOCOS. This opportunity allowed me to weave my knowledge and passion for hormonal health into a tangible resource for Bulgarian women.

2024
Living My Purpose

Launching my first online course in February with 10 live sessions felt like breaking new ground. Seeing over 700 women benefit from these practices confirms what I've always believed - when we support women in reconnecting with their bodies and feminine wisdom, we create ripples of transformation that touch countless lives. Whether through online courses, transformative retreats, or intimate workshops, each woman's journey reminds me why I chose this path.

My Full Journey From Within

A personal story of reconnection and transformation — how losing touch with myself led to profound change and a mission to help other women find their way back to balance.

Early Life Lessons

I grew up in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, between two powerful influences: my father, a military engineer teaching future pilots, who valued discipline and precision, and my mother, a radiologist who shared her emotional world openly. Between these different energies, I learned two essential lessons: structure from my father and compassion from my mother.

From my earliest years, caring for others came naturally to me, especially with my younger brother. But as family expectations grew, this nurturing instinct faded behind the pressure to excel in every area of life. Being the "good daughter" became my identity, though it meant losing touch with my true self.

Career Dreams, Building a Family, and the Pressure of Perfection

After completing two master's degrees in finance and human resources psychology, I built a successful corporate career. Step by step, I climbed the ladder at multinational companies, managing large teams and creating meaningful change. I married my loving husband, and together we welcomed two beautiful daughters.

On paper, I had everything: an impressive career, a loving family, and notable achievements. But trying to be the perfect everything: perfect mother, perfect wife, perfect leader, and perfect daughter left me running on empty. The constant push for excellence in every role slowly disconnected me from who I really was.

Life-Changing Diagnosis, Medical Menopause, and Starting My Transformation

At 35, while managing a demanding career and family life, I received life-changing news: breast cancer. During treatment, I asked my doctor, "Why did this happen? I love life so much. How did I press the death button?" His response changed everything: "This is what you want." He explained that while every human body has cancerous cells, my lifestyle had brought this forward.

The treatments put me into medical menopause, creating a complete disconnect from my body. I dealt with hot flashes, mood swings, and severe brain fog daily. I felt like a stranger in my own skin, lost and struggling to find my way back.

Finding My Way Back to Myself

When a friend mentioned Hormone Yoga Therapy's popularity in Austria, I decided to try it at home. Two weeks later, my cycle returned; a moment that changed everything. I immediately began studying with Dinah Rodriguez, the founder of Hormone Yoga Therapy, and became certified. I also deepened my practice through Iyengar yoga, known for its precision and depth.

These practices didn't just heal my body, they restored my connection to myself. As I shared these tools with friends, I saw how this knowledge could change lives. In 2017, I made the decision to leave my corporate career and focus on teaching yoga and supporting others.

Leading with Authenticity

In 2019, I returned to the corporate world for one of the most significant projects of my career. As an HR and Administrative Director for one of Bulgaria's largest companies, I led a transformation that impacted 2,500 employees.

Walking into a male-dominated boardroom as one of two women, and later the only woman, had its challenges. At first, I felt pulled to follow traditional leadership styles, but something within me said to stay true to who I had become. When I chose to work from my feminine qualities, my empathy, collaboration, and emotional intelligence, these became my greatest strengths.

A senior colleague shared words that touched me deeply: "You are showing a different way, one that brings people together rather than dividing them." My boss captured it perfectly when he said, "I love working with you as a team, I go fighting, and you come after me, gently touching and healing." This showed me that leading with heart creates lasting change, and that bringing your whole self forward isn't a weakness, it's where true power lives.

A New Chapter

In 2022, I made my boldest move yet: leaving corporate life again to fully commit to my purpose.

Moving to Poland with my family brought new challenges and gifts, including another health challenge that reinforced the deep connection between body, mind, and soul.

FAQs

Find answers to your questions about hormone yoga therapy and well-being practices.

What is Hormone Yoga Therapy (HYT)?

Hormone yoga is a specialized practice designed to support hormonal balance in women. It combines physical postures, breathing techniques, and mindfulness to address hormonal fluctuations.  I wrote an full article called What is Hormone Yoga Therapy to answer the question in detail.

What scientific evidence supports the effectiveness of Hormone Yoga Therapy?

The results speak for themselves. Hormone Yoga Therapy, developed by Dinah Rodrigues, is designed to naturally reactivate hormone production through specific dynamic yoga sequences and breathing techniques. A study by the American Menopause Association and Dinah Rodriguez showed remarkable improvements in women aged 50-60 who practiced HYT for just 30 minutes, three times weekly. After three months, their hormone levels increased by 154% on average. Even better, all participants reported their menopause symptoms either completely disappeared or became minimal - without medication. The study confirmed that HYT effectively reactivates hormone production and brings emotional balance. It's particularly effective for younger women experiencing premature menopause, helping restore hormone levels and often fertility. The practice also improves common concerns like hair loss and skin elasticity.

Is HYT suitable for all ages?

Absolutely! Women of all ages can benefit from HYT. I've worked with women in their 30s experiencing premature menopause, as well as those in their later years. In fact, HYT's creator, Dina Rodriguez, is 97 years old and maintains active practice with excellent hormone levels.

Does it matter how long I’ve been in menopause?

Not at all. Hormone Yoga Therapy is designed to meet you exactly where you are; whether you’re just beginning your transition or have been in menopause for years. This practice gently supports your body in finding its natural rhythm again. It’s never too late to bring more energy, emotional balance, and inner harmony into your life. Many women in their 50s, 60s, and even beyond experience meaningful improvements from this practice.

Will my menstrual cycle come back?

It depends on your unique situation.

If your cycle stopped due to a complete depletion of your ovarian reserve (a natural part of menopause), it’s unlikely to return—and that’s okay. The goal of HYT is not to reverse menopause but to bring more ease, vitality, and well-being into this new phase of life.

However, if your cycle paused due to hormonal imbalances, stress, or medical interventions, there is a real possibility that with regular practice, it may return. Many women practicing HYT have restored their cycle, improved fertility, or simply found more emotional balance and energy—even without a full return of menstruation.

What is Ayurveda?

Ayurveda literally means "science of life." This 5,000-year-old healing system comes from India, making it one of the world's oldest medical traditions. What makes Ayurveda extraordinary is its timeless relevance. It's not just another wellness trend that will disappear next year.

Unlike modern medicine, which often follows a "one size fits all" approach, Ayurveda recognizes that each of us is completely unique. You have your own special energy pattern that affects everything from how you digest food to how you handle stress. I wrote an comprenhensive article about What Ayurveda is, click here to read.

Can I practice HYT if I’m new to yoga?
